Sam Burgess reveals that highly-regarded former Wigan Warriors forward will play in the NRL.

Next year, Matty Nicholson will be the latest member of the Wigan Warriors academy to test himself in the NRL.
The 20-year-old forward has decided to sign with the Canberra Raiders for the upcoming campaign, joining up with former Wigan teammate Morgan Smithies in the Australian capital, according to Warrington Wolves manager Sam Burgess, who made the announcement on Sky Sports.
Midway through 2022, Nicholson moved to Halliwell Jones Stadium; the Canberra Raiders are anticipated to pay him a fee. Nicholson has 12 months left on his contract.
The highly-regarded young player appeared for Wigan just once, against the Huddersfield Giants in 2022. Since then, he has made 40 appearances for the Wolves.
He’ll join the ranks of former Wigan Academy players like George Williams, Sam Tomkins, Joe Burgess, and others who have tested their mettle elsewhere.
