As the NCAA gymnastics season

progresses into Week Six, the Oklahoma

Sooners have asserted their dominance,

securing the top spot in both men’s and

women’s national rankings. Their

consistent performances have set a high

standard, making them the team to beat

this season.

 

   Women’s Rankings Overview

 

The Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team

leads the nation with an impressive

average score of 197.746. Following

closely is LSU, which has climbed back to

the No. 2 position with an average of

197.400 after a significant victory over

Alabama. Florida holds the third spot

with a 197.290 average, while Utah and

UCLA round out the top five with

averages of 197.271 and 197.133,

The Southeastern Conference (SEC)

the top 20. Kentucky is ranked eighth,

Missouri ninth, Georgia eleventh,

sixteenth in the all-around with a 39.395

average. She is also sixth on bars (9.90)

and nineteenth on beam (9.879). Her

teammate, freshman Marissa Neal, is

eighth nationally on floor with a 9.905

On the men’s side, Oklahoma continues

its impressive run, leading the national

rankings with a three-score average of

329.000. Stanford holds the second

position with an average of 325.850,

while Ohio State is third at 322.567.

Illinois and Penn State complete the top

five, with averages of 322.167 and

319.917, respectively.

It’s noteworthy that the scoring system

for men’s gymnastics has changed this

season, moving from a 5-up, 5-count

format to a 4-up, 4-count format. As a

result, total scores are approximately 100

points lower than in previous seasons. A

strong team score is now considered to

be around 312 or higher, with national

title contenders aiming for 325 or above.
