Triston Casas gives the Red Sox’s comeback date despite making alarming remarks about a rib injury.

Since leaving their game on April 20 due to a rib injury, the Boston Red Sox have been without their slugging first baseman Triston Casas.

Casas was put on the 60-day disabled list right away, and it looks like he will be out for a while. Later on, it was determined that he had torn cartilage surrounding his ribs. The illness, according to the 24-year-old, is “like a car crash within [his] body.

Casas provided reporters with additional details about what his doctors informed him about his injuries, and his recent remarks may raise questions in MLB.

“This was only a matter of time until it occurred. He described it as being like a pitcher in need of Tommy John—just something that was bound to happen eventually, Casas added.

The first baseman was informed by the doctors that his size and the speed at which his body rotates to swing the bat were the cause of the cartilage tear. MLB may be in serious trouble if rib injuries to batters start to happen as frequently as Tommy John surgery does to pitchers.
