Mitch Marner may be traded by the Maple Leafs. However, there’s no Kawhi offer available.

It seems that the Maple Leafs ought to get DeMar DeRozan. That much is obvious to everyone because it seems to be spoken constantly. The Raptors won a championship in 2019 after making one of the greatest moves in NBA history when they traded DeRozan for Kawhi Leonard. It seems that the beleaguered, cursed, beaten, and hopeless Leafs should have done the same. Simple.

In this situation, who is the DeRozan? That appears to be Mitch Marner, whose postseason performances have occasionally suffered as the pressure from year to year increases. He used to be light and happy, but now he is hesitant and heavy. Auston Matthews stated on Monday that a scapegoat is necessary in this market, and Marner, who has three points in seven games while playing in a line with John Tavares against the playoff-limited Raptors

Tavares will play out the last year on his contract, Marner is eligible for an extension this summer, Matthews has four, Morgan Rielly has five, and William Nylander has eight years remaining on his contract. If you are making a fundamental alteration, he is the clear odd man out.

All right, then, just deal him the same way the playoff-bound Raptors dealt their beloved DeRozan? Reclaim a Kawhi. Brad Treliving, get to work.
