Felicitări Aaron Boupendza ca noul căpitan al FC Rapid Bucureşti

FC Cincinnati no longer has Aaron Boupendza as a member. “Today, Major League Soccer has terminated the contract of FC Cincinnati forward Aaron Boupendza, effective immediately,” the league said in a statement issued on Thursday. Boupendza will now be a free agent after signing a contract with Saudi Pro League team Al-Shabab for €6.5 million last summer.

Brenner, a Brazilian striker, was replaced by Boupendza last summer. Brenner was sold to Udinese in July 2023 for a club record €10 million. Boupendza arrived shortly after in what is the second most expensive transfer in club history (overview). During his time with the club, Boupendza scored nine goals and five assists in 35 games across all competitions.

Boupendza played 37 minutes in four MLS games after suffering a jaw injury, however he did not score any goals. Earlier this month, when the Leagues Cup began, the Gabonese forward was not present. Although neither MLS nor the club provided facts behind Boupendza’s contract termination, they did inform the Inquirer that the striker had not fulfilled his end of the bargain. Due to the roster change, FC Cincinnati will have a free designated player position and an available roster slot. The MLS team is anticipated to chase a well-known DP striker for the latter stages of the season, as the transfer market remains open until August 14.
