Fitz on Main Street, a staple in the community for decades, was devastated by a fire on May 30, 2024, caused by an exhaust fan malfunction. Owner David Fitzpatrick described the incident as receiving “the call that nobody wants to hear.” Despite the extensive damage, the community rallied behind the restaurant, with numerous volunteers assisting in cleanup efforts. Fitzpatrick likened the support to a scene from the classic film It’s a Wonderful Life, highlighting the town’s unity and spirit.
