Exclusive: Wigan Warriors Boss Matt Peet Speaks out on BBC sports passionate homage to Wigan warriors club modest Roots.
Rugby league is finally receiving the recognition it deserves after years of “frustration,” according to Wigan manager Matt Peet. The Warriors won Team of the Year at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards, which is only the third time in the sport’s 64-year history and the first time since St Helens in 2006.
At the glamorous event, the sport frequently receives very little attention. Its sole representative for the individual award is Leeds great Kevin Sinfield, who finished second to Andy Murray in the 2015 Rhinos’ treble-winning campaign.
However, Wigan took center stage Friday night as renowned chef Michel Roux Jr.’s VT described the components that went into their incredible season, following an incredible quadruple-winning campaign. “That’s the main point of satisfaction for me,” acknowledged Peet, who was also on the Coach of the Year shortlist.
