Tiger Woods announces golf return 10 months after horrific car accident
Tiger Woods will return to competition soon.
The 45-year-old golfer said on Wednesday that he and his 12-year-old son, Charlie, will play in the PNC Championship in Orlando, Florida, next weekend. This will be the player’s first golf competition since he almost lost his leg in a vehicle accident in California on February 23.
Woods wrote, “I am very excited to close it out by competing in the @PNCchampionship with my son Charlie, even though it has been a long and challenging year.”
“I couldn’t be more excited and proud to be playing as a dad.”
Woods resides with his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, and their daughter, Sam, who is 14 years old. 2010 saw the couple’s divorce.
Golf champions team up with family members at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club Orlando for the PNC Championship.
The first indication that Woods’ comeback was imminent came when he uploaded an Instagram video of himself striking balls on the course last month. When he engaged in full swings with his driver on Saturday and Sunday during his Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, he stoked even more rumors.
There have been rumors that Woods will make his comeback to the sport at the PNC Championship. Notah Begay III, an analyst for Golf Channel and a personal friend of Woods, stated that the next tournament would be ideal for the 15-time major winner because it wouldn’t require him to walk the course as a PGA Tour event would.
Walking might not be as difficult for Tiger because he can ride a cart and drive nearly all the way up to the golf ball and onto the green.
