Braden Fiske discusses his surprise at being drafted by the Los Angeles Rams and explains the unique aspects of his contract.
Braden Fiske was just as taken aback as everyone else when he was chosen by the Los Angeles Rams as the 39th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The former Florida State defensive tackle made waves during the NFL Combine, standing out among incoming rookies by leading all defensive tackles in key categories such as the 40-yard dash, broad jump, and vertical jump, and tying for first in the 20-yard shuttle. This impressive performance caused his draft prospects to soar on experts’ mock drafts, elevating him from a projected mid-round pick to potentially being taken in the late first or early second round.
Fiske’s unexpected showing at the combine ultimately boosted his draft position, leading to his selection early in the second round of the NFL draft. While he is enjoying his new team and surroundings in Los Angeles, Fiske admitted he was “definitely surprised” when Rams general manager Les Snead called him.
“I was definitely surprised,” Fiske said in an exclusive interview. “Throughout the pre-draft process, I’ve mentioned how each team approaches things differently in terms of showing interest, recruiting, getting to know you, and conducting background checks. I didn’t have much interaction with the Rams, hadn’t heard from them much, and didn’t speak with anyone from their organization at the All-Star games or Combine.”
