Kobe Bufkin, Devonte’ Graham, De’Andre Hunter, Sacramento’s 2024 first-round pick (protected by lottery), and Sacramento’s 2025 first-round pick (less favorable than Atlanta’s, Chicago’s, and San Antonio’s, with top-10 protection, via the Spurs) are sent to the Toronto Raptors.
Siakam has been a target for the Hawks this summer, according to league sources who spoke with NBA Analysis Network. With just a year remaining on his deal, Siakam’s market value is being actively assessed by the Raptors.
In October 2019, Siakam agreed to a four-year, $136 million rookie contract extension with the Toronto Raptors. Next season, he will earn $37.9 million, and in the summer of 2024, he will be free to sign with any team. During the previous season, the gifted small forward shot 48.0% from the field, 32.4% from beyond the arc, and 77.4% from the free-throw line, averaging 24.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 5.8 assists.
Siakam averaged 17.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists throughout his playing career. In addition to winning the 2019 title, he was named the Most Improved Player of the Year in 2018–19.
Sportsnet’s Michael Grange reports that Toronto is hesitant to extend Siakam’s contract to its maximum amount. Notably, Siakam has not traveled to Las Vegas to attend any Summer League games. In June, Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report and TNT revealed that Siakam would have preferred to remain a member of the Raptors. However, once Toronto declined to extend Siakam’s contract beyond the maximum amount, things might have changed.
Capela shot 65.3% from the field last season while averaging 12.0 points and 11.0 rebounds for the Hawks. In September 2021, the 29-year-old agreed to a $45.5 million, two-year contract extension with Atlanta. Next season, Capela, who started his career with the Houston Rockets, will earn $20.6 million.
In six games, the Hawks were defeated by the Boston Celtics in the opening round of the 2023 playoffs. Over the course of the six games, Capela averaged 8.3 points and 8.3 rebounds. But his plus-minus was -8 in the first game, -5 in the second, -6 in the fifth, and -13 in the sixth.
