The Premier League’s decision to declare Everton guilty of more financial violations is “pure spite,” according to Joe Anderson.
The former Mayor of Liverpool tweeted on Monday (15 January) that it shows the “arrogance” and “lack of professionalism” from the league after the Toffees and Nottingham Forest have been referred to an independent commission for alleged breaches of profit and sustainability rules in their accounts for 2022-23.
He went on to say that it would have been morally right to hold off on making a decision until after the Blues’ appeal of their earlier charge, which was issued in November of last year, was resolved.

This is an exceedingly difficult situation because Everton may lose further points before they even receive the outcome of their appeal of the earlier decision.
Many think that the Toffees have a good chance of regaining some of those lost points and that the 10-point deduction was unfair.
However, the new accusations will worry everyone connected to the team greatly because another point deduction might be disastrous.
It might make the American investment firm reconsider its desire to invest in the club, which could cast doubt on 777 Partners’ proposed takeover.
The Blues would also find it very difficult to avoid relegation if there was another deduction this season, given that they are still barely afloat after the previous punishment.
In other Everton news, a reporter has informed Jim White of what the Toffees are reportedly interested in in a forward.
