Jordan Love Rumors: Packers ‘Motivated’ to do Contract Extension, QB to Be Patient
The Green Bay Packers are “keen” to extend the contract with QB Jordan Love, who’s said to be interested in being a patient player as more signal callers around the league get their salaries and help rebuild the NFL market.
“The sense is around the league is that Green Bay is motivated to do a deal, to do an extension with Jordan Love,” Fowler said.
“Jared Goff in Detroit, in Miami with Tua Tagovailoa, Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville. Those will set an even higher market for a QB landscape that’s above $50 million per year for some of these guys.
“And so if you’re Jordan Love, you can sit back a little bit, but the felling is that there’s enough mutual interest for this to get done…”
Love, who was selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft, sat behind Aaron Rodgers for three seasons before taking the QB1 reins in 2023. He signed a one-year, $13.5 million contract extension in March 2023, taking him through the 2024 campaign.
Obviously, it’s imperative for the Packers to get a deal done with Love, who just led the Packers to the NFC Divisional round in his first year as the team’s starter.
Love completed 64.2 percent of his passes for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions. He excelled in two playoff games as well with 466 yards and five scores (two picks).
The young Packers shined when the lights were brightest in Dallas, dominating the Cowboys 48-32 in the wild card round. They nearly picked off the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional round as well before falling 24-21.
