Conor Coady thinks the noise level during Everton’s season-ending match against Bournemouth was higher than it was during the Merseyside Derby.
The former Blues loanee remarked in an interview with More Than A Game on Tuesday, January 23, via Toffee TV, that while the atmosphere against the Cherries was “unbelievable,” the roar versus Liverpool was loud.
The 30-year-old centre back, who is currently a Leicester City player, continued, saying that it got to the point where you were hearing nothing and that your ears were “ringing” as the Toffees won 1-0 at Goodison Park to maintain their Premier League status.
Coady remarked, “You can’t say anything to anyone because the noise was that loud.” “To be honest, the noise level was at the point where it was making your ears ring.”
“I recall saying earlier that the derby was loud, and that one was really outstanding. It was the most incredible roar.
When Everton’s close victory over Bournemouth guaranteed them a spot in the Premier League for another season, it was a momentous day.
When Abdoulaye Doucoure found the back of the net in the second half, Goodison’s roof nearly came off, but they managed to hang on for a huge three points.
That day’s stadium atmosphere was fantastic, as Coady describes exactly what it was like to play there from the perspective of a player.
The Merseyside Derby often has the loudest crowds of any game, but the Toffees supporters understood how crucial they would be against the Cherries.
As he attempts to lead the Blues out of the relegation zone over the coming weeks, Sean Dyche will be hoping that similar spectacles won’t be required once more this season.
In other Everton news, it has emerged that a club has made signing a Toffees player a “top priority” for this month.
