In order to make room for Justin Jefferson in this trade proposal, the Minnesota Vikings and the Houston Texans reach a wide receiver trade.
At wide receiver, the Minnesota Vikings are starting training camp in uncharted terrain. Since the Vikings extended Justin Jefferson’s deal earlier in June, they now have their top two targets for the foreseeable future. J.J. McCarthy, the rookie quarterback, will receive dependable assistance from Jordan Addison and Jefferson in his growth.
However, the Vikings lost an important offensive component to free agency. The Vikings will miss former wide receiver K.J. Osborn, who signed with the New England Patriots, as noted by Alec Lewis of The Athletic. The Vikings are still in search of Osborn’s replacement, which would free up room for Addison and Jefferson.
WR3 is needed by the Minnesota Vikings.
Lewis believes that before training camp, the Vikings might make a wide receiver trade. Lewis believes that Robert Woods and Noah Brown of the Houston Texans would be the two greatest trade targets for the Vikings:
From a financial standpoint, Woods and Brown would be more feasible than [Amari] Cooper and [Chis] Godwin. They are members of the Houston Texans, who also include Ben Skowronek, Nico Collins, Tank Dell, John Metchie III, and Stefon Diggs. Houston is embarrassingly wealthy in that role. Given that Woods and Brown will soon enter free agency and that they both desire more playing time, why not trade one of them for a 2026 late-round selection pick?

In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Vikings will only have two picks. There are two: a first-round selection and a fifth-round selection. It would be surprising if the Vikings traded a pick from that class and instead looked to move up to 2026 or later.
The Los Angeles Rams have already agreed to trade the Vikings their conditional pick in the sixth and seventh rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft. In order for the Vikings to get Woods in the late round, they would need to offer the fifth-round pick.
Woods is an experienced receiver that the Vikings might sign to help Sam Darnold contend this season. Throughout his NFL career, Woods has 663 receptions for 8,030 yards and 38 touchdowns.
