In their attempt to capture young Irish talent Sam Curtis, Sheffield United is said to have overcome Manchester United and Chelsea.
According to HITC, Sam Curtis, an 18-year-old sensation from the Republic of Ireland, is expected to sign a contract with Sheffield United from St. Patrick’s Athletic after the team defeated Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea for his services.
Curtis has emerged as one of the top prospects in Irish football. In his professional career, the young player has already made 61 appearances, scored three goals, and taken home numerous individual awards in addition to two FAI Cups.
His rise to fame was aided by his debut for his country’s under-21 squad the previous year.
He may be young, but given that he has played in so many senior games and is aiming for a full Republic of Ireland cap, he must possess some maturity in his game.
Last season, Curtis also took part in the Europa Conference League.
The relegation-threatened Blades are the ones that are closest to signing him after defeating other teams, while Manchester United and Chelsea were also interested in signing him.
In December, Sheffield United rekindled their interest in the young player and managed to tie him down to a multi-year deal. If all the papers and medical exams go as planned, the young youngster might be unveiled before Sunday’s Premier League game at Bramall Lane against West Ham United.
The Red Devils don’t plan to make any significant additions in January, so they will keep an eye out for potential for the future. A sincere emphasis on bringing in the next generation of potential stars may exist because many young players have departed Old Trafford in recent transfer windows.
Curtis should be watched closely by Chelsea and Manchester United, as both clubs might make a serious move for him if he keeps improving in England.
