According to the 52-year-old (via Goal):
“Players who can improve your squad, like Son, are what they need to purchase. Signing older players has had successes and failures.
“With Van Persie’s wealth of football experience, Sir Alex knew exactly what he was doing when he brought him in.” Nobody was surprised by Van Persie since we all knew what he was capable of.
Since Harry Kane left Tottenham in the summer, Son has been the team’s captain and has been playing at a high level for years.
The Asian playmaker has scored 12 goals and supplied five assists in 20 Premier League games so far this season.
Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Spurs, is adamant that Son is a top-tier player. Last month, the boss gave praise to the former attacker for Bayer Leverkusen, as reported by The Guardian:
“Sonny is exceptional in every way. When he’s done, which will be far down the road, I’d be shocked if he’s not regarded as one of the best strikers in the game.
