Jonathan David's most recent transfer: Manchester United's interest, Aston Villa's position on January deals

According to reports, Aston Villa is looking to add even more firepower to their roster during the January transfer window by pursuing Lille star Jonathan David.

With ten goals in 24 appearances this season, the 23-year-old Canadian international has received high praise for his efforts in France. In 160 games in all competitions, David has amassed 68 goals and 15 assists for Lille, who acquired him from KAA Gent in 2020.

There has long been talk of a big-money transfer to the Premier League, and speculation over the 45-cap striker is nothing new. Here, we examine more closely at the most recent David-related news stories in light of rumours of interest from The Villans, Manchester United, and other teams;

United is also considering David

United will compete with Villa for David’s signature this month. This is in line with the most recent rumours from Football Transfers, as rumours about the Canadian player continue to circulate.

David has stated unequivocally that he would consider quitting the Ligue 1 team in France. It’s said that Villa and United are looking to reinforce their respective squads with a fresh attack-minded player.

Giants of Italy AC Milan are rumoured to be interested as well. David’s contract with Lille has 18 months remaining, but no fee has been stated in the article.

David is ‘open’ to joining the Premier League

Villa and other possible suitors have not received permission to pursue David in this way this month. The 23-year-old did, however, imply that he would one day desire a move to the Premier League after closely monitoring the competition when questioned about his future goals in December 2022.

David said, “I think it’s possible, very possible.” “I doubt that I will be able to find myself in any other league but the Premier League. The Premier League could be the possibility. It’s a really pleasant vibe.

Villa’s position about January transfers

It’s well known that January is a challenging month to do business. Clubs often save the majority of their spending for the summer transfer window, but Villa may be tempted to look about for that extra advantage to keep their unexpected, but welcome, title charge.
The Athletic pushed Villa manager Unai Emery about his mid-season ambitions.
“We are analysing and meeting with Monchi [president of football operations] and the owners in regards to how we can improve and change something in the squad, but I’m very happy,” the Spaniard stated in the interview. I’m not sure if we’ll receive anything during the transfer window.”
