Pep Guardiola declares a magnificent three-word contest for the Liverpool title and admits Anfield.

Man City trails Liverpool by two points in the Premier League standings.

Pep Guardiola discussed how crucial it was for Manchester City to secure a thrilling victory in the closing minutes of the Premier League season in order to stay ahead of Liverpool.

Due to their absence over the winter break, the Reds’ lead at the top of the table was reduced to two points. Even though they had to come back from behind and needed an overtime goal from Oscar Bobb to secure all three points, City defeated Newcastle United 3-2.

Kevin De Bruyne, who missed four months due to a hamstring injury, scored and created the opportunity for Bobb’s pivotal save to seal the victory.

But Liverpool is still in control and wants to beat City to win the championship, just like they did in 2019–20. The current champions still have to play Jurgen Klopp’s team at Anfield in March, but with the Reds “flying,” Guardiola is already considering that match.

“I think everyone can agree that we played really well today, especially considering how physically strong Newcastle is.” They transitioned well, and we gave up two goals after Bernardo Silva gave us the lead, but skill won out in the end. I encouraged the guys at halftime, “You are amazing, stick together, and we will do it.”

“Winning was crucial because we have to travel to Anfield and Liverpool is playing well, so it’s best to be near them.”
