To dominate the Premier League, Liverpool has been urged to cash in on Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz.
This season, the two forwards have shown mixed results. Diaz has been playing well lately, which culminated in his goal-scoring performance against Fulham on Wednesday. However, this term, the Colombian has generally fallen short.
Gakpo, on the other hand, has shown variable consistency. For the Dutchman, nine goals is a respectable return, but there’s no denying that he should have scored more.
Darragh MacAnthony, the chairman of Peterborough United and a supporter of Liverpool, has thus pleaded with the Reds to act. In an interview with MacAnthony for his podcast The Hard Truth, he asserts that Jurgen Klopp need to exert every effort to sign Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
“Toney is a world-class player,” the Irishman remarks about Toney. “Every Premier League champion side ought to need and purchase him. After Brentford wins games and maintains his spot in the Premier League, I want to see him get moved.
“Among the top three strikers in the Premier League is Ivan Toney.” Sometimes, when I see Liverpool struggle, I even consider selling Diaz, selling Gakpo, and going after Ivan Toney. Salah to the left, Nunez to the right, and him in the centre. All day long, back-to-back league titles!
