Following his forced return to Liverpool from the Africa Cup of Nations due to injury, Egypt’s legendary player Mido has become the latest to criticise Mohamed Salah.
The 31-year-old Reds attacker took a hit during his nation’s match against Ghana as he was forced to leave the game before halftime due to a hamstring ailment. The decision to have Salah treated in England has made the issue worse than initially thought.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Salah’s decision to depart from the Egypt camp has drawn criticism. Instead, he might have improved his fitness in the Ivory Coast and sought to position himself for appearances later in the competition. However, Premier League star Salah will receive “proper treatment” at Anfield, according to Klopp.
WHAT MIDO SAID ABOUT SALAH
Mido, who had played for teams like Middlesbrough and Tottenham, is not having those remarks made by Klopp. “Oh, these exercises are so dirty and rigid, it is difficult to do them except in Liverpool,” the outspoken former striker wrote on social media after seeing Salah post images of him doing light exercises at Liverpool’s training camp.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR SALAH
Egypt will play DR Congo in the final 16 of the AFCON. Salah will be allowed to rejoin the Pharaohs, according to Liverpool, should they advance to the championship game and their fabled captain is able to demonstrate his fitness.
