The first player Wigan Athletic manager Shaun Maloney signed in January was Chambers, an England youth international who has played four times for Liverpool this season.
At the age of six, Chambers, who was originally from Preston, joined Liverpool. In the summer of 2021, he inked his first professional contract, and the following year, he contributed to England’s U19 European Championship victory.
Chambers earned a new contract at Liverpool in July 2022 after competing in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy against EFL opponents and gaining significant experience.
Chambers made 16 appearances in all competitions while on loan at Kilmarnock last season.
He continued to be a member of Liverpool’s first team squad for the first half of the 2023–2024 season, being called upon often by manager Jürgen Klopp.
After making his senior debut in October against Leicester City, he went on to play in three UEFA Europa League games.
Chambers reflected on his decision and expressed his excitement. “I’m thrilled to sign this here. “My goal is to assist the team in winning games and advancing as far as possible in the league,” he declared.
Wigan’s First Team Manager, Shaun Maloney, spoke highly of Chambers’ versatility and potential.
“He’s the perfect profile for that left-back position… he brings lots of technical quality, and he’s good physically,” said Maloney.
