Long-term goal for Real Madrid As Kylian Mbappe’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain draws to an end, Premier League powerhouse Liverpool is suddenly showing interest in the player.
The conversation of Kylian Mbappe’s club future is back on the table, but some sources now suggest that he might join Liverpool instead of Real Madrid.
At the end of the current season, the star player for Paris Saint-Germain’s contract with the French powerhouses will expire, and Real Madrid has long been the favourite to sign him. For almost three years, the World Cup champion has piqued the interest of the Spanish powerhouses, but a transfer has never happened.
Though the Reds are reportedly interested in Mbappe, there is information that claims Los Blancos are no longer in the lead to sign him. Before relocating to Paris in 2017, the 25-year-old came dangerously close to joining Anfield.
Mbappe was considering moving from Monaco to Merseyside at the moment, and according to L’Equipe, he even had a two-hour private conversation about the transfer possibility with Reds owner John W. Henry. According to the French publication, Henry invited Mbappe and his family to board his private aircraft when it was in Monaco in an attempt to win them over.
With no transfer fees to pay, sources indicate that Jurgen Klopp is ready to rekindle the team’s interest in Mbappe. This has set off a gossip mill. PSG is still hopeful, nevertheless, that they can persuade the attacker to sign a contract extension at the Parc des Princes.
Nasser Al Khelaifi, the president of PSG, went into great depth about the circumstances on the Rothen s’enflamme RMC podcast. “Look, I’m not trying to hide anything,” he clarified.I want PSG to keep Kylian Mbappe. PSG is the ideal club for him because he is the finest player in the world.
He is essential to our endeavour. Many things have been tried by us; some have been more successful than others. We are not perfect, and we have made mistakes. We currently have a young team with French players, and we have the long term in mind.
“Our system of play has been adjusted, and we have assembled a team that is enjoyable to watch. They are strong technically. It’s amazing how well we play and defend as a team.”
Although Mbappe’s arrival on a free transfer excites Liverpool, it’s thought that the Reds would need to overhaul their entire wage structure if the Frenchman were to join.
According to The Telegraph, Mbappe’s agents are requesting an annual salary of £64.5 million, or £1.24 million per week, after taxes. To put things in perspective, Mohamed Salah, the highest paid player at Liverpool right now, makes almost £350,000 a week.
