On Wednesday, Liverpool will play Fulham at Anfield in the opening leg of their League Cup semifinal. Jurgen Klopp’s team is aiming for four titles.
The Reds are the clear favourites to win the League Cup for the second time in three seasons, and they are also leading the Premier League, making it to the last 16 of the Europa League, and the final 32 of the FA Cup. A record nine times have Liverpool won the title, and manager Jurgen Klopp is eager for more as his overhauled team has seen many young players come up recently as injuries have started to mount. Despite the absence of Trent Alexander-Arnold due to injury and Mohamed Salah’s absence due to AFCON duty, Liverpool may still lead 2-0 going into the second leg at Craven Cottage.
Speaking of Fulham, in a crazy match filled with incredible goals, Marco Silva’s team lost 4-3 at Anfield in December despite having a 3-2 lead late in the game. They’ll make an effort to maintain pressure and give Liverpool more than a fright; a draw that they can take back to west London would be fantastic. Fulham has never advanced to the competition final and has never taken home a major title. It’s a tall order, but Fulham will enjoy their chances of pulling off an upset considering some of Liverpool’s current absences.
