According to Football Insider, Liverpool and Arsenal are supposedly in the running to sign Douglas Luiz, a top player for Aston Villa.

In order to contend on all fronts this season after suffering through a disastrous campaign the previous year, the Merseyside club decided to completely overhaul their engine room by acquiring Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch last summer.

Liverpool’s inability to buy a premier holding midfield player gave rise to concerns that the team could struggle this season. But, Klopp has brought out the best in Mac Allister and Endo, starting the pair as deep-lying playmakers.

With 45 points from 20 games, Anfield is presently atop the Premier League table, so they haven’t felt the loss of a world-class defensive midfielder. But Liverpool has realised they need to add another midfield player to bolster that area.

Football Insider claims that although Luiz has been attracting interest from Liverpool, the Brazilian would have to wait until the end of the current campaign to join the Reds since Aston Villa won’t allow its star player go this month.

According to Football Insider, Luiz has long been admired by Arsenal, and now the Spanish team is preparing a move for him as well. Liverpool will therefore have fierce competition from their opponents to close any possible deal for him.

According to reports, Villa Park wants at least £100 million to let its star player go, thus Arsenal or Liverpool will have to spend a lot of money to entice the South American to leave Villa Park.

According to rumours, the Gunners have been considering the prospect of bringing in a new midfield player to take Thomas Partey’s spot, who has struggled with fitness in recent years. Mikel Arteta’s team has apparently made Amadou Onana a real alternative, but Luiz is their main aim.

The Aston Villa player would make a fantastic addition to either Arsenal or Liverpool if they are able to get him this year. He has already shown flashes of his abilities in the Premier League in recent years.
