To Begin Training, the Chiefs Sign Another Playmaker.
As rookie minicamp gets underway, the Chiefs made an announcement on Wednesday about a roster move by signing undrafted Slippery Rock wide receiver Kyle Sheets.
Following the NFL Draft, he first signed a priority free agent contract with the Saints after being selected as an AP Division II All-American and twice an All-PSAC honoree. The two hundred and twenty-one-pound, six-foot-four receiver caught 76 passes for 1,186 yards and 17 touchdowns in the previous season, with a career-best 210 yards versus Millersville.
Nikko Remigio and other young wide receivers have been a revelation for Kansas City this summer, while more seasoned players are fighting for a position on the roster. Adding Sheets to the mix will only make things more difficult, even if he’ll probably end up playing solely on the practice squad this season.

Sheets has 154 receptions for 2,440 yards and 29 touchdowns in 51 games with Slippery Rock. His aggregate average of 15.8 yards per reception demonstrated his ability to trace the ball well and be a deep threat.
Sheets is unlikely to be included in the team’s 2024 plans, but he might find a way to contribute in the future. If nothing else, he will infuse some energy into a position group that has taken a lot of flak for its failures during the previous season.
The Chiefs won their second consecutive Super Bowl, but they also had the most drops (44) in the NFL. By signing Hollywood Brown in free agency and trading up for Xavier Worthy in the draft, Brett Veach made it evident that he was committed to making the room better.
