Daniel Ricciardo will not drive a Formula 1 car for “two or three weeks,” according to AlphaTauri team manager Franz Tost, who also provided more information about the Australian’s hand injury.

The injury was sustained by Ricciardo last week at Zandvoort when he crashed during practice while attempting to sidestep fellow countryman Oscar Piastri at the banking turn three.

He was replaced in the Netherlands by Liam Lawson, a New Zealander, after he fractured his left metacarpal bone in the crash.

Daniel Ricciardo also suffered back pain after the race. : r/formula1In an interview with Sky Germany, Tost stated that Ricciardo is still many weeks away from being able to operate an F1 vehicle, casting doubt on his ability to compete in the next races in Singapore and Japan.

“He [Ricciardo] is doing okay given the circumstances,” he stated. He is still in Barcelona and is receiving physical therapy treatments there, according to our phone conversation.

“We now need to gauge how quickly the healing process is going; we are unable to speculate ahead of time and will require a few more days to obtain a clear picture of the situation.
