Diana Taurasi Responds To Caitlin Clark’s WNBA Struggles After Foreseeing Them

When speaking about Caitlin Clark these days, WNBA veteran Diana Taurasi is choosing to be diplomatic.

Taurasi said during the NCAA Women’s March Madness tournament that Clark and other top college basketball players would have difficulty making the move to the professional league in their early years.

“Reality is approaching; this thing has levels to it. You may appear superhuman when you play against 18-year-olds, but you’ll be facing older women who have been involved in professional basketball for a considerable amount of time. It’s not that it won’t translate—when you’re excellent at something, you’ll just get better at it—but there will be a learning curve during which you must extend some compassion to yourself as a novice. For some people, this may take a little longer.

“You know, everything takes on a life of its own these days,” the speaker said, referring to any quotation that has been taken out of context or small aside. Let me explain. I only mentioned it because, as every professional athlete will tell you, I always imagine what they’ll look like in their professional uniform when I watch sports.
