Boston Bruins hire Jay Leach as assistant coach, promote Joe Sacco
The Boston Bruins announced on Wednesday that they have hired Jay Leach as an assistant coach, adding to head coach Jim Montgomery’s 2024–25 coaching staff.
Leach returns to Boston after five seasons as head coach of the Providence Bruins, their American Hockey League club, where he served as head coach from 2017 to 21. He has been an assistant with the Seattle Kraken for the previous three seasons. Leach’s record with the AHL Bruins was 136-77-26.
Leach, 44, competed in professional hockey for 13 seasons, spending time in the NHL, AHL, and ECHL. With 70 appearances overall, the Syracuse, New York native played in two games for the Bruins during the 2005–06 season and spent portions of four seasons in Providence.

The Edmonton Oilers’ greatest chance of winning Game 3
The Edmonton Oilers are behind the Florida Panthers 2-0 in the Stanley Cup Final, and it’s clear that they can’t keep playing the same way and expect for a miracle to win this series. If they choose to return, they must make the necessary changes. However, precisely what modifications are they need to make?
Colby Cohen spoke on Daily Faceoff Live what Edmonton needs to do in order to win in Game 3.
Colby Cohen: I believe that Game 3’s opening five, perhaps eight minutes, will be crucial. The energy they are able to consume, the beginning, and matching the
Perry and Nurse of the Oilers should be ready for Game 3 against Florida.
Kris Knoblauch, the head coach of the Edmonton Oilers, addressed the media prior to Thursday’s Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final.
Important details about defenseman Darnell Nurse and forward Corey Perry were provided by Knoblauch; both players should be fit for Game 3. The nurse appeared ready to play in Game 3, having just skated for slightly less than two minutes in Game 2.
Perry, on the other hand, was a scratch for Game 2 after clocking in at little under 9:00 in Game 1. The veteran appears to be making a comeback to the starting lineup.
For Game 3, Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch predicted that Corey Perry will likely return to the starting lineup. Additionally, he said Darnell Nurse should be okay to leave.
This summer, the Buffalo Sabres need to add a lot of talent.
The Buffalo Sabres had high hopes for the postseason going into the 2023–24 campaign, but they were disappointed with their performance, finishing 39–37–6 with 84 points, eight points out of the second Wild Card slot.
With 59 points apiece, defenseman Rasmus Dahlin and forward Alex Tuch led the squad in scoring despite the lack of offensive production. Tage Thompson trailed closely behind them with 56, and none of the other players could score 50 points after John Peterka.
The question that arises as we approach the offseason is do they strive to add more skill and goal scoring? Or is a different strategy for assembling a lineup what the Sabres team with lots of talent has in store?
