The 2024 MLB All-Star Game will include three Braves players.
ATLANTA, Georgia (First News Atlanta) – The MLB All-Star Game for this year will include three players from the Atlanta Braves.
The Braves announced on Sunday night that Marcell Ozuna, Chris Sale, and Reynaldo Lopez had been chosen as the team’s reserves for the game on July 16. The National League will add Sale and López to its pitching staff. As a designated hitter, Ozuna was assigned.
“Our Arlington representatives!” the Braves wrote on X. “We are happy to announce Chris, Marcell, and Reynaldo as the 2024 All-Star Game selections.”
The 36-year-old left-hander Sale was selected for his eighth All-Star team, his first since he was selected for seven in a row from 2012 to 2018. Since Albert Pujols earned his 11th trip for his final season in 2022—his first since 2015—the gap is the longest for an All-Star.
Sale is 11-3 with a 2.71 ERA in his debut season with the Braves.
“It is undoubtedly fulfilling. Sale, who was acquired by the Braves from Boston in December, stated, “I definitely appreciate it.” “They took a chance, and I’m glad I can help them with this.”
López will be making his first All-Star appearance this year, and Ozuna’s third.
The Braves had the most players picked to the All-Star Game since the team’s relocation to Atlanta last season, with eight players chosen.
