Latest FFP news: Everton and Nottingham Forest are the teams facing penalties, according to a new Premier League statement.
Manchester City’s FFP punishment decision was left out of the Premier League’s announcement on Monday that two teams had violated the rules. Both Everton and Nottingham Forest may lose points as a result of their violations of the profit and sustainability laws (PSR).
The Toffees lost 10 points in November for exceeding the £105 million loss threshold over a three-year rolling period. Their case was referred to the Independent Regulatory Commission in the previous year. As a result, Sean Dyche’s team dropped in the Premier League standings, but they almost instantly emerged from the relegation zone thanks to their strong play.
They might, however, be subject to additional sanctions after the Premier League disclosed on Monday that Nottingham Forest and Everton had both acknowledged breaking PSR regulations. “The Premier League has received confirmation from both Everton FC and Nottingham Forest FC that they are in violation of the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) of the league. This is because, for the evaluation period ending in Season 2022–2023, losses were incurred that were greater than the allowable criteria.
“The cases have now been sent to the chair of the Judicial Panel, who will designate distinct Commissions to ascertain the proper sanction, in compliance with Premier League Rules.
Commissions operate independently of member clubs and the Premier League. The Premier League’s website will host the Commission’s final judgements, which will be announced following the sessions in private. Until then, the League will not say further.”
