Tyreece John-Jules: To keep the Arsenal striker, Derby County will extend his loan

John-Jules has been capped by England up to Under-21 level but has yet to make a senior appearance for Arsenal

Arsenal striker Tyreece John-Jules is ready to continue his loan stint with League One high-flyers Derby County, says Rams coach Paul Warne.

The 22-year-old’s first loan was upended following Derby’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Burton on Tuesday night.

The attacker, who now has two goals in 12 games, was a mainstay of the triumph and contributed to Derby’s first goal.

“I think everything has been signed and delivered,” Warne responded when questioned about John-Jules’ recent contract.

“He is staying until the end of the season, which is good because we are getting more game time out of him.”

Warne has made keeping John-Jules for the rest of the season a priority during the transfer window.

His influence was limited by injuries throughout the earlier part of the season, but when he returned to duty in November after nearly three months away, the striker scored two goals in two games, prompting the Rams manager to refer to him as the “player Derby have been missing.”

“We still have to be really cautious with him, but there were moments tonight where you could see why we want him at the football club,” Warne said on BBC Radio Derby.

“He will be a big part going forward.”
