A Serie A winger talks about a possible transfer to the Emirates Stadium in the most recent transfer rumours from Arsenal.
A purported transfer target for Aston Villa and Napoli has previously talked about his “dream” of joining Arsenal.
Forward Cyril Ngonge of Hellas Verona is rumoured to have drawn significant interest recently after regaining his form in the first half of the Serie A season. In 21 games in all competitions, the former Belgium Under-21 international has six goals and two assists as he helps his team avoid relegation to Italy’s second division.
Ngonge has not experienced any problems, even if Verona’s inability to find consistency has put them in the relegation zone. Over the past two weeks, there has been a growing amount of conjecture over Ngonge’s future. Villa is apparently eager to give the winger a chance to go to the Premier League, but according to a recent Sky Italy story, Napoli may have gotten ahead of schedule by agreeing to a £16 million deal with Verona in the previous 48 hours. It’s also thought that Fiorentina expressed interest in Ngonge.
If Ngonge were to leave Verona in the future, he said a prospective move to Arsenal would help him fulfil a dream as he thought back on his early experiences in Italy and the influence a move to Serie A has made on his career.
He stated to TuttoMercatoWeb: “I saw it as an opportunity rather than a gamble. This is because Serie A provides you visibility, and I was confident in my ability to showcase my skills to a global audience. My goal for the upcoming season is to further influence Serie A. I want to play the entire season. Playing for Arsenal has always been my dream team. However, now that I’m here in Italy, I truly enjoy it and may possibly choose to stay. I am, of course, kidding.”
