Although Arsenal is currently lacking in goals scored, a former player thinks there may be more issues at hand that prevented them from defeating Manchester City for the Premier League title the previous year.
At the moment, Arsenal is struggling to score goals. The Gunners have only won one of their past five Premier League games and have only managed five in their last seven games in all competitions.
They are now fourth in the table as a result of their recent run of luck. Since the Premier League split its fixtures across two weekends last weekend, Arsenal had a small winter vacation following their FA Cup loss to Liverpool last time out.
Ahead of their match against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium this coming weekend, the Gunners have relished the warm weather while training in Dubai. There haven’t been any fresh signings to report on as of yet, and the January transfer window is still in effect.
Given their troubles in front of goal, a striker would seem to be the most sensible trade to make, but Mikel Arteta has acknowledged that a move this month “does not look realistic”. This is true even if he has connections to players like Karim Benzema, Borja Mayoral, Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen, and Dusan Vlahovic.
A former Gunner thinks there is a mentality issue at the Emirates Stadium after Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester City all experienced a little lull in the Premier League title battle. William Gallas stated, “Arsenal always has the same problem,” in an interview with Gambling Zone. You just have to hold onto that position when you are leading the Premier League at Christmas and in that position.
That implies that you must win every game, which is why I thought it was unacceptable that they fell short against Fulham on the road. The players are to blame since they failed to perform to the required standard, were insufficient, and it was unacceptable.
“The issue with Arsenal is consistently the same and appears to be recurring. If the players’ issue is known by the media, then they must acknowledge it, take greater initiative, and strive for victory even in situations where they perform poorly.
“At the moment, they do not possess that mindset. I was talking about [Martin] Odegaard, who has incredible talent and technique. However, if he isn’t performing to the level we anticipate, the team’s performance appears lacking.
“It’s not only Odegaard though, he’s not the only one, but I don’t think he’s been at the level he needs to be at.”
