When Arsenal plays Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, they might include Thomas Partey back in their ideal starting lineup, providing Mikel Arteta with a tonne of new possibilities.

Arsenal knows that in order to maintain their title ambitions heading into their match against Liverpool this weekend, they must overcome an unflattering record at the City Ground when they take on Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night. Fortunately, Mikel Arteta has been receiving positive news about his team before the game.

As he makes his first appearance in the game in almost three months, Thomas Partey has been sighted in training. The Ghanaian, who was instrumental in much of the previous season’s title push and was available for more games than ever before, has been missed by the Gunners. He was a huge asset in the middle of midfield during that campaign.

Certain players, like as Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhaes, are under doubt, but Mikel Arteta will be hopeful both are fit for the journey to the East Midlands. With that, football.london examines the Spaniard’s possible ideal starting lineup for Tuesday.

David Raya, in goal, is coming off of what was possibly his best game while wearing an Arsenal uniform. In addition to making many excellent saves that gave him some breathing room amid the Aaron Ramsdale controversy, he was instrumental in the Gunners’ third goal.

Gabriel will try to rejoin William Saliba in defence after he was forced to leave against Palace due to a knock. Ben White appeared to have made some progress from a persistent knee ailment, and Oleksandr Zinchenko was back to his usual self. Meanwhile, Takehiro Tomiyasu of Japan advanced to the round of 16, meaning he will miss at least one more match.

Moving into midfield, it is hoped that Partey will be able to play at least a supporting role, and in the best case scenario, he may even be able to start when the partnership with Rice finally undergoes change after its triumph against Manchester City in the Community Shield. With the midfield reinforcement, Martin Odegaard can then advance the play and terrorise the opposition.

Much to everyone’s surprise, Reiss Nelson started and performed admirably against Liverpool, while Leandro Trossard started and scored versus Palace. Although the Belgian showed promise, he will have to contend with Gabriel Martinelli, who entered the game to score twice and cause Arteta some difficulty.
