Gary Neville has shared his opinions about Ivan Toney, a striker for Brentford who is rumoured to be a target for Chelsea and Arsenal.
After serving a nine-month ban for his betting infractions, Toney is about to make a comeback to the game. He is available to play on Saturday when Brentford hosts Nottingham Forest in their first 2024 Premier League game.
After scoring 20 goals in the Premier League the previous season, the England international has been hitting goals for Brentford on a regular basis in games played behind closed doors as he prepares for his return.
Given that Chelsea and Arsenal are looking to add a striker to their rosters, there have been hints in recent months that Toney may have already played his final game for Brentford.
But following their troubling downturn before the New Year, 16th-placed Brentford are keen to hold their prized asset until the summer and they have requested roughly £80m for him.
As previously stated, Toney hopes to stay with Brentford through the summer. “Everyone knows Brentford is a family club; they have been nothing but amazing for me,” he said earlier this month. I sincerely appreciate their support, especially the fans. They also trailed me from the very beginning. It seems like I have a lot of debt to pay back.
Amidst rumours that Chelsea and Arsenal are “sniffing around,” Manchester United veteran Neville stated over the weekend that he cannot see Arsenal signing Toney this month.
“There has been a lot of discussion about a major deal to Arsenal, hasn’t there? Neville stated on his podcast for Sky Sports, “I don’t see it happening personally at this point in the season or in the transfer window.”
