Mikel Arteta was compelled to pledge to an Arsenal juvenile following Chelsea's interest in a trade.

Despite finding it difficult to get into the first squad this season, Mikel Arteta has reassured Emile Smith Rowe that he still has a role to play in this Arsenal team.

Smith Rowe rose to prominence for the Gunners during the 2021–2022 season, but he has struggled with fitness ever since. As a result, the England international has dropped in the hierarchy of the team’s loaded midfield at the Emirates.

Some Gunners supporters disagree with the midfield hierarchy, but players like Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, and Fabio Vieira appear to be ahead of Smith Rowe in the standings. The six league games this season have seen the Arsenal youth graduate start just once.

Smith Rowe’s long-term viability in north London has come under scrutiny, with a cumulative minutes total of 116 minutes. Even though the 23-year-old has mostly gone unutilized as a substitute in games, Arteta has stated he has no intention of leaving the team anytime soon.

The former Huddersfield loanee was recently linked to Chelsea, Arsenal’s London rivals, but the Blues have since turned their focus elsewhere. The most recent team to be linked to a Smith Rowe transfer is Newcastle.

When asked about the current reports and if Smith Rowe was ever for sale, Arteta responded forcefully. The manager of the Gunners said, “That was never part of our plans.
