This transfer window, Arsenal and Liverpool might not have to contend with a German footballing powerhouse to pursue the Fulham player.
Joao Palhinha, a ball-winning midfielder for Fulham, is a target for Arsenal and Liverpool, and it looks like German powerhouse Bayern Munich is pulling out of the contest.
In preparation for a £60 million move from Craven Cottage, the Portuguese international had flown to Germany last summer to have a physical. However, the agreement fell through at the last minute as Fulham was unable to identify a suitable replacement for the player. Palhinha has moved on from the botched transfer and has been a mainstay in Maro Silva’s squad this season.
Palhinha told supporters prior to the game that his future will be away from the banks of the Thames, but he looked especially well once again as Fulham frustrated Liverpool for the majority of their Carabao Cup encounter at Anfield last week.
“I’ve always said that I feel the love that the supporters have for me,” the midfielder said to Sky Sports. I’m aware that I’ll leave Fulham eventually. I wish to offer everything. Here, I’m always very professional, and I’ll play for Fulham and do my job every time.
Since his summer transfer collapsed, Palhinha has been linked to several teams, including Bayern Munich and Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool. The German team is no longer interested in pursuing a deal, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, which might put the title-chasers in the lead for the Fulham player.
Romano, writing on X, stated: “We wanted João Palhinha last summer, but right now we needed to fortify our rear.” This is according to Bayern director Freund. Furthermore, Alexander Pavlovic has already performed admirably in a role. We think we have a strong internal alternative because of this.”
Tom Cairney, a teammate, commended Palhinha’s professionalism prior to the team’s 1-0 loss to Chelsea on Saturday. “He smells blood,” the midfielder said to TNT Sports if you lose the ball. When it comes to regaining possession of the ball and trying to get it back, he’s certainly among the best I’ve ever seen.
“He doesn’t simply apply pressure; he also makes the tackle and goes back to recover the ball. Sometimes it’s quite amazing to watch. I believe that the fans are liking him. He’s definitely brought something new to the Premier League, in my opinion.
