A knee problem is reportedly bothering Gabriel Jesus ahead of Arsenal’s FA Cup third-round match against Liverpool on Sunday.
According to The Daily Mail, the Brazilian international has developed a knee injury, however it’s unclear how serious it is at this time. Although there is “hope” that this won’t be a long-term issue for the 26-year-old forward, the source notes that he is a “doubt” for their matchup at the Emirates against Jurgen Klopp’s league leaders.
Arsenal, a north London team that is presently fourth in the division, has lost its last two games and has missed an opportunity to lead the Premier League. Jesus has only scored four goals in the league this year, but Mikel Arteta’s squad is losing out on him. The Gunners may need to look to the January transfer market for a new striker if the former Manchester City player, who has seven goals and three assists in all competitions this season, is sidelined for an extended period of time.
Jesus has had knee problems in the past. Due to the same issue, he missed the first few weeks of this season. Additionally, following joint surgery, the Brazilian lost three months of the 2022–2023 season due to a knee ailment.
Following their FA Cup match against Liverpool on Sunday, Arsenal will play their home match against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on January 20. Ten days later, they are supposed to play Nottingham Forest away, but if they win against the Merseysiders, they’ll probably be playing in the FA Cup fourth round by then.
