According to reports in Belgium, Arsenal and Everton have begun formal negotiations on the midfielder Amadou Onana’s transfer, but Mirror Football is aware that this is untrue.
In regards to a possible trade for Amadou Onana, Arsenal and Everton have not yet begun negotiations.
The Gunners have been keeping an eye on the 22-year-old midfield behemoth, but as of right now, there has been no concrete progress on a January transfer. Mirror Football has learned that there are no ongoing talks between the two teams, despite reports circulating in Belgium to the contrary.
Financial Fair Play laws have undoubtedly hindered Arsenal after their summer transfer splurge of £208 million; in the last three calendar years, their net spending has approached £400 million. As a result, they are working hard this month.
Therefore, even if Onana would instantly improve their alternatives in the middle of the park, a big-money transfer does not seem possible at this time.
Everton is rumoured to be accepting bids for the former Lille midfield player because a deal would ease the club’s financial burden after they were docked ten points for violating the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules. Onana, who signed a £33.5 million contract to join Everton in August 2022, is likewise admired by Chelsea.
Arsenal will be prepared to leave their mark on the market should an opportunity that is too good to pass up arise, even though there hasn’t been much movement on Onana. A possible loan arrival at left back is still being thought about.
Nonetheless, it’s anticipated to be a quiet month at the Emirates Stadium barring any major developments, like a big player sale. It’s fully expected that Arsenal’s fortunes would improve once important players return from injuries and international duties.
Although Eddie Nketiah is not actively for sale, Crystal Palace is still interested in a deal. To get Arsenal talking, a sizable offer would be required. Emile Smith Rowe, who is once again suffering from a lack of playing time, is one player who could be available at the appropriate price, but so far there hasn’t been much interest in the 23-year-old. Once more, he is not on any active transfer lists.
This also holds true for Aaron Ramsdale, who Arteta has stated he hopes to retain until the end of the season, at which point his future will be reevaluated.
