With Moore at the helm and former Cowboys players coming aboard, the Saints are banking on a Dallas-style offense to propel them back into playoff contention…
The New Orleans Saints are making it
clear: they’re fully embracing the Dallas
Cowboys’ influence as they retool for the
2025 season. Just days after hiring
former Cowboys offensive coordinator
Kellen Moore to lead their offense, the
Saints have added another ex-Cowboy to
their ranks, bolstering their roster with a
familiar face from Moore’s past.
The move underscores New Orleans’
commitment to revamping its offensive
identity, and it further signals that Moore
will have a significant say in shaping the
team’s personnel decisions. While the
Saints have yet to officially announce the
signing, sources close to the organization
confirm that they are bringing in former
Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup
on a short-term deal.
  Gallup Gets a Fresh Start
Gallup, who spent the past six seasons
with the Cowboys, became the odd man
out in Dallas after struggling to regain
his pre-injury form. Once a key part of
the Cowboys’ passing attack, the former
third-round pick saw his role diminish as
CeeDee Lamb ascended to stardom and
the team acquired Brandin Cooks.
However, Moore still believes in Gallup’s
potential. During his time in Dallas,
Moore utilized Gallup as a deep threat,
stretching defenses and creating
opportunities for others. Injuries
hampered Gallup’s effectiveness over the
last two seasons, but a fresh start in New
Orleans could be just what he needs to
rejuvenate his career.
For the Saints, the move is a low-risk,
high-reward gamble. Their receiving
corps, led by Chris Olave and Rashid
Shaheed, lacks proven depth beyond
those two, and Gallup brings experience,
physicality, and a veteran presence to the
locker room. If he can regain his
explosiveness, he could be a dangerous
complement to Olave.
  Kellen Moore’s Vision Taking Shape
The Saints’ decision to bring in Moore as
offensive coordinator signaled a shift
toward a more dynamic, pass-heavy
attack. Moore, who spent four seasons
calling plays in Dallas before a one-year
stint with the Los Angeles Chargers, is
known for his aggressive play-calling
and creative route combinations.
By adding Gallup, the Saints are giving
Moore another weapon he’s comfortable
with—one who already knows the
system he likes to run. While Derek Carr
remains the presumed starter at
quarterback, the team could also look to
make additional moves at the position,
potentially targeting a young signal-
caller in the draft to develop under
Moore’s guidance.
The Saints are coming off a
disappointing 9-8 season in which they
narrowly missed the playoffs. Despite
boasting a top-10 defense, their offense
struggled with consistency, ranking in
the middle of the pack in passing yards
and scoring. If Moore can unlock the
potential of his new-look unit, the Saints
could quickly become a contender in the
NFC South.
 More Moves to Come?
New Orleans’ recent moves raise an
intriguing question: could more former
Cowboys be on the way? The Saints have
been linked to running back Tony
Pollard, who is set to hit free agency after
playing on the franchise tag in Dallas last
season. If the Saints continue this trend,
don’t be surprised if more ex-Cowboys
make their way to the Big Easy.
For now, Gallup’s addition provides an
early glimpse into what the Saints’ new
offensive identity will look like. With
Moore calling the shots and familiar
faces joining the fold, New Orleans is
betting that a Cowboys-influenced attack
can lead them back to playoff contention.
