Because of their ongoing financial problems, Everton will probably have to sell at least one of their best players this summer. HITC Football knows that Jarrad Branthwaite is the most likely big-name departure, with Real Madrid and Manchester United among the teams interested in him.
HITC Football has received confirmation from sources that Everton will still require more funding to cover their costs, even if 777 Partners’ proposed takeover is authorised. This is due to persistent worries around Financial Fair Play standards.
We are aware that 777 is hoping to take over at Goodison Park this month while they wait for the Football Association and Premier League to give their approval. After their original acquisition bid was accepted, they gained the go-ahead from the Financial Conduct Authority and have been financing Everton for £150 million in recent months.
The team was struck with a ten-point penalty at the beginning of the season for violating the Profitability and Sustainability rules; they are appealing this penalty. Now, they are facing another charge, but they are determined to battle any potential punishment.
Everton has previously sold.
But Everton’s persistent financial problems, which were a major factor in their January sale of Anthony Gordon, mean they have to confront the possibility of having to sell and comply with the financial rules they will probably have to cash in on this summer, even though it’s not this month.
Because he is considered a homegrown, Jarrad Branthwaite is Everton’s most marketable asset. He came in January 2020, aged 17, from Carlisle. Actually, he has spent the majority of his time on loan from the squad, enjoying successful stints at PSV Eindhoven and Blackburn Rovers. However, this season, he has made a major impression and established himself as a mainstay in Sean Dyche’s starting lineup.
And several teams have taken notice of his form. Real Madrid and Manchester United are two teams that are interested in Branthwaite, as far as HITC Football is aware.
Carlo Ancelotti a Fan Of a Defender
When Branthwaite first joined the team, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti was in charge of Everton. Since then, he has closely monitored Branthwaite’s development and is rumoured to have given him the go-ahead to his superiors, who are reportedly looking to add a central defender this summer.
United has long been a fan of Branthwaite, but HITC has learned that Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle are also big fans and are all keeping an eye out for possible central defensive reinforcements this summer.
In the event that Branthwaite were to depart, Everton would still have other assets up for sale, such as the England duo Jordan Pickford and Dominic Calvert-Lewin and the Belgian sensation Amadou Onana, both of whom could generate significant revenue. However, under the Profitability and Sustainability Rules, Branthwaite’s homegrown status would appear to be more advantageous on the profit sheet.
