Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has stated that Luke Shaw participated in squad training prior to Sunday’s Premier League matchup against Tottenham Hotspur.
Ten Hag had stated earlier in the week that Shaw would be available to play against Spurs at Old Trafford; nonetheless, he was left off of the matchday roster for the late afternoon kickoff.
Instead, Aaron Wan-Bissaka began the game in the left-back position, with Diogo Dalot starting on the other end.
After the 2-2 draw with Spurs, Ten Hag stated that Wan-Bissaka has experience playing left back before. Against Wigan Athletic, he played a limited amount of minutes.
Shaw was supposed to play, according to the management, and the team practiced with him, but he had to leave early since he wasn’t well enough to play.
“It wasn’t the first time, also at Wigan he played there for part of it,” he said to Manutd.com. Luke Shaw was [expected to play]. He didn’t show up for training this morning since he wasn’t well enough to begin.
We chose to place Azza on the left and keep Diogo on the right because it would have been too much to change back to how we had practiced and what our game plan was.
Throughout his career, Shaw has experienced numerous injury difficulties. He is recuperating from a chronic muscle problem right now. The fact that he wasn’t there yesterday doesn’t surprise us.
Rather than making an early comeback just to face another unanticipated injury blow, the £33 million-rated star will want to get back into the starting lineup when fully fit.
We believe that the choice against Spurs was the correct one. The defender will be able to increase his level of fitness over the next several days thanks to the mini-winter break.
On January 28, United will play Newport County or Eastleigh in the FA Cup fourth round. He might be included in the starting lineup for the match.
