The legendary English player Paul Gascoigne might have been warming up for Sir Alex Ferguson in a Manchester United uniform, but he chose to sign with Tottenham, in part because of the promise of a sunbed.
Paul Gascoigne revealed the reason behind his rejection of Manchester United over Tottenham Hotspur, citing a sunbed as a major factor.
The 56-year-old disclosed the specifics of his 2015 transfer from boyhood team Newcastle to Spurs. The legendary English player talked about that 1988 incident while promoting the DVD release of his film “Gascoigne” and making an appearance on BBC Five Live.
Although he only won one FA Cup during his four years in North London, the former midfield player said that he had no regrets for declining Sir Alex Ferguson.
