Report says Arsenal’s negotiations for the Everton star are problematic.

Arsenal faces a difficult task in trying to get Everton’s Amadou Onana, as Everton has high demands and financial concerns.
Arsenal has stepped up its chase of Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, but there are doubts about their ability to close a deal.

Report says Arsenal's negotiations for the Everton star are problematic.
Sources from Belgium indicate that although negotiations are still under progress, the financial viability of the deal is under scrutiny, raising doubts about Arsenal’s capacity to sign Onana.

Onana is viewed by Arsenal as a possible major signing, despite concerns regarding the futures of midfield players Jorginho, Mohamed Elneny, and Thomas Partey at the club.

But Everton’s assessment of Onana presents a serious obstacle.

most recent news and updates on injuries at Arsenal
After acquiring Onana from Lille in August 2022 for €35 million, the Merseyside club is now requesting more than €50 million. Everton’s need to balance their accounts is a contributing factor in this pricing, particularly in light of their recent financial troubles and Premier League scrutiny.

Arsenal’s financial limitations are an additional layer of intricacy.

Arsenal has reportedly lost €471 million over the last three years, mostly as a result of expensive transfer fees and their inability to obtain a fair price for the majority of the players they have traded, according to DH Les Sports+. These restrictions have been alluded to by manager Mikel Arteta, who suggests that the team may not have enough money for a simple acquisition.

Arsenal might have to think about other transfer agreements in light of these budgetary constraints, such a loan with a buyout option, which is akin to the agreement for David Raya last summer.

That formula seems unlikely, though, as it would not help Everton much.

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, extensive negotiations are underway, with Onana purportedly keen to remain in the Premier League and giving priority to joining Arsenal.

According to Pieter-Jan Calcoen of Nieuwsblad Sport, Everton is requesting about €60 million (£51.7 million), and Arsenal is considering a January bid.

Onana has long piqued Arsenal’s interest.

During Onana’s tenure at Lille in 2022, the club held talks with his representation.

Though Onana eventually joined Everton, Arsenal’s interest resurfaced in January 2023.

With midfielders in their thirties and the need for long-term solutions, Arsenal’s pursuit of Onana seems a strategic fit.
