Alan Shearer, a former striker for Newcastle United, has given credit to five North London players for making his Premier League team of the season thus far.
As of midseason, Tottenham Hotspur is tied for the most represented club in Alan Shearer’s Premier League team of the year.
Shearer’s starting eleven also includes three Spurs players in addition to Liverpool. Positioned in a 4-2-4 formation, the Match of the Day analyst informed the Premier League that Guglielmo Vicario is his first choice custodian.
He takes a lot of shots and must play out of the back under pressure because of Spurs’ daring style under Ange Postecoglou, Shearer clarified. “He has excelled in both areas.”
Shearer made a terrific impact on the Tottenham defence when youthful Destiny Udogie, a full-back, was chosen. The Premier League’s leading goalscorer completed his aggressive lineup by including Son Heung-min on the left flank.
Shearer described the 12-goal captain of the Spurs as “a special talent.” “When he gets the ball in front of goal, I have no doubt he will score.”
Mikel Arteta’s team, Arsenal, was also represented in the lineup, appearing twice. William Saliba, who has been a pillar of support for the Gunners this year, was first up.
Declan Rice made a summertime transfer from West Ham United, and Shearer praised his influence, saying: “Has blended in perfectly with the Arsenal midfield.” He reads the game and tackles the ball quite well.”
Jarrod Bowen’s heroics earned the Iron a spot on the team as well. The 27-year-old, under David Moyes, has scored 14 goals so far this season.
Shearer’s current starting lineup for the Premier League:
Vicario (Spurs); Salah (Liverpool), Watkins (Aston Villa), Bowen (West Ham), Son (Spurs); Rice (Arsenal), Luiz (Aston Villa); Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Van Dijk (Liverpool), Saliba (Arsenal), Udogie (Spurs).
