Boston Bruins hire Jay Leach as assistant coach, promote Joe Sacco

The Boston Bruins announced on Wednesday that they have hired Jay Leach as an assistant coach, adding to head coach Jim Montgomery’s 2024–25 coaching staff.

Leach returns to Boston after five seasons as head coach of the Providence Bruins, their American Hockey League club, where he served as head coach from 2017 to 21. He has been an assistant with the Seattle Kraken for the previous three seasons. Leach’s record with the AHL Bruins was 136-77-26.

Leach, 44, competed in professional hockey for 13 seasons, spending time in the NHL, AHL, and ECHL. With 70 appearances overall, the Syracuse, New York native played in two games for the Bruins during the 2005–06 season and spent portions of four seasons in Providence.

Important details about defenseman Darnell Nurse and forward Corey Perry were provided by Knoblauch; both players should be fit for Game 3. The nurse appeared ready to play in Game 3, having just skated for slightly less than two minutes in Game 2.
