After the Chicago Bears picked Caleb Williams out of USC as expected, the Washington Commanders entered the 2024 NFL Draft with the No. 2 overall pick and the advantage of being able to select one of the top quarterbacks available.
Despite much discussion about the Commanders’ choice at No. 2, where Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye appeared to be neck and neck, Washington ultimately opted to select the Heisman Trophy winner as their center of attack going forward.
Daniels is the whole package at quarterback and has the potential to be a huge asset for the struggling Commanders, even though he is undersized and may have taken too many unwarranted chances while running the football at LSU.
Daniels has apparently already left a lasting impression in the nation’s capital, as evidenced by the attention the rookie received at minicamp.
When questioned about what he’s seen so far from the rookie quarterback, Daniels received great marks from veteran tight end Zach Ertz, according to The Team 980.
