The Jacksonville Jaguars signed a former first-round pick to hone their skills.

Terrell Edmunds, an experienced safety, was signed by Jacksonville on Thursday, ahead of the team’s organized team activities. Linebacker Ty Summers and defensive back Tre Flowers are also joining the team.

Of the three, Edmunds—a former first-round selection in 2018 (ranked No. 28 overall—has the most recognition. His career took off after he was named the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting strong safety from 2018 to 22. Edmunds played for both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Tennessee Titans in the previous season. In 16 games, he recorded 48 combined tackles, an interception, a forced fumble, and a career-high 2.5 sacks despite not being a consistent starter for either team.

Terrell, a former Steelers running back and brother of Bears linebacker Tremaine and former Steelers running back Trey, can play both safety positions these days and can also come out of the box. For a Jaguars defense that has already made progress this offseason up front, that ought to be very beneficial.
