Boston — In a 5-3 loss to the Rays on Monday at Fenway Park, Tyler O’Neill smashed a 426-foot home run over the Green Monster, but the Red Sox offense was held to very little else.

In the fifth inning, Jarren Duran singled with one out, but he was out trying to steal second base. In 11 attempts this season, it was only his second time being caught stealing.

O’Neill opened the bottom of the ninth inning by walking on six pitches. However, right-hander Jason Adam of the Rays then struck out Romy Gonzalez swinging, Vaughn Grissom looking, and Dominic Smith swinging.
