JUST IN: Red Bull star announced a contract change….

Adrian Newey the head of Red Bull design is leaving the team in the wake of the Christian Horner team principal dispute.

According to BBC Sport, Newey—who is widely considered as the finest Formula 1 designer in history—told Red Bull that he wanted to go on.

Following Horner’s denial of charges of sexual harassment and forceful, abusive behavior by a female colleague, the 65-year-old has become uneasy about the circumstances at Red Bull.

Requests for comments were not immediately answered by Newey or Red Bull.

The British design boss has been closely associated with Ferrari and reportedly had an offer from Aston Martin; but, now that his availability is known, all of the top teams will probably be interested in signing him.

Red Bull has signed Newey till the end of 2025, but he is rumored to be hopeful of working out a deal that would enable him to join a different team for the upcoming campaign.

The German publication Auto Motor und Sport was the first to report on his intention to leave Red Bull, but BBC Sport independently confirmed the story using high-ranking sources with knowledge of Red Bull and Newey.

They verified that his wish to quit is a result of his dissatisfaction with Horner’s circumstances, which have given rise to a complex power struggle at Red Bull.

Following an internal probe, the group found Horner not to have done anything improper. The ruling was challenged by the complainant, who was suspended in the interim.

The team cleared Horner of wrongdoing after an internal investigation. The complainant, who has since been suspended, has appealed against the decision.

Horner and Red Bull motorsport adviser Helmut Marko are in dispute, as are the Thai main shareholder Chalerm Yoovidhya, who backed Horner, and Red Bull Gmbh in Austria, who had initially wanted to remove him from his position.

Newey has been at Red Bull since 2005 and has overseen two dominant eras with the team, from 2010-14 when they won four consecutive drivers’ and constructors’ titles with Sebastian Vettel, and the current era with Max Verstappen.
